Sustainable cattle farming out of conviction.

The Hahues Limousin Farm in Lippetal-Lippborg is run with great passion by Christoph and Stefanie Hahues as a part-time business. At the heart of their operation is a herd of suckler cows comprising around 80 Limousin cattle, which are reared in conditions appropriate to their species. Their primary aim is animal welfare – from rearing through to marketing.

From April until the end of October, the animals spend their time on the pastures surrounding the farm, which is situated in an idyllic, secluded location. The calves stay with their mothers for as long as possible and are reared naturally on long pasture grass and hay. The meadows are deliberately mown only at long intervals so that the grass grows long enough for the animals to chew it thoroughly. Unlike in dairy-focused farming systems, the focus is on slow, steady muscle growth – the basis for absolutely top-quality Limousin beef.

The Hahues family also consistently prioritises sustainability in their marketing. Short transport distances to the abattoir prevent unnecessary stress for the animals. At the same time, short distances to the consumer ensure the produce is regional and help protect the environment. The natural beef is sold directly from the farm to consumers, as well as to a regional catering business that specialises in high-quality local produce.

The right telescopic wheel loader for your business.

At the last EuroTier trade fair, Christoph Hahues set out to find a new piece of machinery. Until then, he had been carrying out much of the work using a front loader attached to his tractor – a solution that was increasingly failing to meet the farm’s requirements. At the Weidemann stand, his attention was drawn to the 60 series. The 2060T, in particular, immediately caught his interest.

“I thought straight away, ‘That’s the machine for me’,” recalls Christoph Hahues of his first impression. The technical specifications of this high-performance machine were an immediate match for his business’s requirements. With a lift height of 4.30 m at the bucket pivot point, the telescopic wheel loader easily clears the side of the manure container and achieves the required stacking height for the plastic bales.

The machine is simply a perfect fit for our farm. It makes our day-to-day work so much easier and supports us exactly where we need it.

Compact in design – versatile in use.

For the Hahues family, a key advantage of the Weidemann 2060T is its low overall height. Whilst the farm has a spacious open barn area, it is also necessary to access older barn buildings with low clearance. With its low operator canopy and an overall height of just 2.35 m, the telescopic wheel loader fits easily into the existing buildings and can reliably carry out all the necessary work there too. The final deciding factor was a demonstration carried out directly on the farm by Weidemann’s sales partner, Reiner Sommer Landtechnik. Following the practical demonstration, the decision was quickly made: the 2060T perfectly meets the farm’s requirements.

Today, the Weidemann 2060T assists the farm with a wide range of tasks on a daily basis. Thanks to the Euro-mounting system, the existing attachments can continue to be used without any problems. These include, amongst others: a bucket, a feed pusher, a bale spear, a bale gripper and a pallet fork. Every day, the telescopic wheel loader is used to feed the animals and transport straw, hay and maize silage bales. It is also used for ground maintenance and gardening work around the farm, where it has now become indispensable.

Its ease of maintenance proves its worth in day-to-day use.

As well as its performance, Christoph Hahues particularly appreciates the 2060T’s well-designed service accessibility. Thanks to the transversely mounted engine, all service points are extremely easy to access. “Everything is very easy to reach whilst the machine is stationary, which is really great,” emphasises Christoph Hahues, “and the fact that the battery can be accessed directly from the outside on the right-hand side of the machine is also a great advantage.”

Whether it’s the oil dipstick, the hydraulic oil tank, the radiator, the coolant, the air filter or the windscreen washer reservoir – all key components can be checked and serviced quickly and easily. This saves time and makes day-to-day work easier – where animal welfare, local sourcing and sustainable farming are the focus, you need technology that provides reliable support. “The machine is simply a perfect fit for our farm,” summarises Christoph Hahues. “It makes our day-to-day work so much easier and supports us exactly where we need it.”

Enjoy local produce – straight from the farm.

At their on-farm shop, the Hahues family sell high-quality Limousin beef in standard household portions. The meat is sold vacuum-packed and labelled – usually in quarters or eighths. Anyone who values regional provenance, animal welfare and short transport distances will find high-quality meat products directly from the producer at the Hahues Limousin farm.
