Andreas Schöneweiß on his electrically powered Weidemann 1190e.

On the outskirts of the North Hessian village of Harbshausen, idyllically located directly on the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park and just a stone's throw from Lake Eder, Andreas Schöneweiß runs his Bioland farm. The farm has been certified since 2004 – with sustainable heifer rearing on 17 hectares of grassland in accordance with Bioland guidelines, complemented by a lovingly run holiday home complex. ‘Our guests are consciously seeking peace and seclusion. For many, our village of Harbshausen is a real haven of tranquillity – and that's what we want to offer our holidaymakers and preserve for the future.

In addition to farming, Andreas Schöneweiß and his family take care of the holiday accommodation: three holiday homes built according to ecological principles with friendly colours and interior design, a rustic shepherd's wagon for cyclists and hikers, playgrounds, two ponies, a few chickens, lots of bees and other animals make a farm holiday possible that has become rare these days. Children in particular love having direct contact with the farm animals and helping with feeding, mucking out or grazing – or being allowed to ride along on the tractor.

Sustainability as a philosophy.

Right from the start, since the construction of the first two holiday homes, ‘Eisvogel’ and “Grünspecht”, in 1999 and the subsequent construction of the ‘Rotmilan’ house in 2012, Andreas Schöneweiß has been committed to consistently ecological construction methods: Green roofs, solar thermal energy for hot water and a 10 kWh PV system with a 7.5 kW storage unit supply the holiday homes with sustainably generated electricity – at least from April to October, during the peak season. ‘There's nothing better than looking at the app on a sunny day and seeing that you're producing your own electricity.’ The remaining demand is covered by certified green electricity. A charging infrastructure is available for guests with electric cars – in line with the overall sustainable concept.

For me, electrically powered machines are the future — and simply the perfect solution for us.

Full power, zero emissions, versatile tasks: the 1190e in action.

Andreas Schöneweiß drives the Weidemann 1190e with a driver's canopy and medium battery capacity of 23.4 kWh. With around 220 operating hours per year, the electric farm loader is used for a wide range of tasks. On the farm, the loader is used to transport bales and feed, muck out the stables, carry out maintenance work around the pasture, fetch water, create natural habitats from wood around the feed bales (which serve as additional habitats for native birds) and much more. The 1190e is charged at a wall box, which is also used for the existing hybrid car. Andreas Schöneweiß prefers to charge the machine with electricity from his own PV system, so that he has enough power for his entire workload.

The electric all-rounder is also used in a variety of ways in the holiday home sector, for example for transporting materials and waste containers, cutting back hedges and trees, removing gravel areas for weed control (without pesticides) and for snow clearance in winter. With attachments such as crocodile jaws, pallet forks, bale clamps, 4-in-1 earth shovels and feed push blades, the 1190e is flexible in use – quiet, clean and powerful.

Perfect for holiday operations.

A particularly big advantage of the 1190e is its environmental friendliness – a real bonus for sensitive holiday operations. ‘With the 1190e, I can easily complete my many different jobs – and all without disturbing anyone's relaxation.’ The machine is emission-free and extremely quiet – a point that goes down very well with discerning guests.

‘I can even work on Sundays – the Weidemann doesn't disturb anyone. And when the children see the Weidemann and are allowed to sit on the machine, everyone is totally happy! Parents also think the 1190e is great because it is sustainable and rounds off our overall ecological concept so wonderfully.’

A convinced machine owner with vision.

For Andreas Schöneweiß, one thing is clear: his next machine will also be an electrically powered Weidemann. ‘I'll sign that right away! For me, electrically powered machines are the future – and simply the perfect solution for us. For me, such a versatile machine simply belongs on every farm!’

With the Weidemann 1190e, Andreas Schöneweiß is relying on a quiet, powerful and, above all, environmentally friendly solution – and thus optimally combining two worlds: value-based agriculture and nature-oriented feel-good tourism. A successful example of a coherent overall concept with a future. Our conclusion: innovative Weidemann technology that fits perfectly with the philosophy.
